The Silent Stars

Our relationship with Alli started with her first independent recording project after leaving her major label. Over the years we’ve photographed Alli, created illustrations, and package her recordings for Always Eden, One, The Day Of Small Things, At Sea, You & The Evening Sky, and her most recent, The Silent Stars.

For this tiny project, a hand illustration of a “christmas rose” fit the bill while keeping us in a fresh place for a seasonal work. Helleborus niger is commonly called the “Christmas Rose”, a folk tradition. A German poem in the 15th century holds that it sprouted in the snow from the tears of a young girl who had no gift to give the Christ child in Bethlehem.
