This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Arthouse annual fundraiser, Five x Seven. This year will be the 5th year FÖDA Studio’s creative director Jett Butler has been invited to submit work to this great event.
From their site:
“2009 marks the 10th Anniversary of Five x Seven (also known as 5 x 7), Arthouse’s annual fundraiser, art splurge and exhibition, and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Five x Seven is an art sale and exhibition benefiting Arthouse exhibitions and educational programs. Hundreds of recognized contemporary artists with strong Texas ties create unique works of art on identical 5” x 7” boards. Each board is only $100. With hundreds of works to choose from, this is your chance to have first pick and build or add to your art collection. All pieces are displayed anonymously – only when you purchase a work of art will you discover who created it.”
Jett has been an invited artist since 2004, and the last four years his work has sold immediately on opening night. The images here are details of his submittals from 2007 and 2008. Studies in lo-relief and tone on tone, they are intentionally enigmatic, yet rendered in common materials. Like time capsules, the recycled backs of the pieces often reveal graphics and illustrations from old presentations spanning almost his entire design career.

5x7 takes place Friday, May 15th from 7:30PM to 10PM night at Arthouse.
See more on the Five x Seven Blog, and arrive early to stake your claim. The selling pieces are gone immediately after the countdown, usually around 9PM or so. The party typically involves great music and drinks and a big crowd on Congress Ave, with all proceeds going to support the arts in Texas.
