A Cameo Role in La Condesa

La Condesa is now open on 2nd Street. Led by Jesse Herman and built around a menu by executive chef Rene Ortiz, the project is a who’s who of great talent in a number of fields in Austin. FÖDA Studio had a very small role, and we’re honored to have been involved in this project alongside designers like Michael Hsu, Joel Mozersky, and Mucca in NY.
From the press release:

“Like the bohemian neighborhood that inspired it, La Condesa is a study in sensual contrasts. Aesthetically, it fuses modern design with historical architecture. Ambient light and subtle landscaping showcase vibrant artwork. At the bar, innovative cocktails compliment premium 100% blue agave tequilas. And humble street food shares the table with creatively inspired cuisine.”

Our design brief was to have fun and take a modern position on the traditional Mexican Guayabera. So, we’re certain this post requires little explanation.
¡Buen provecho!
*and special thanks to our ‘models’, actual staff at La Condesa.

*Also, please notice that curious object on the outside wall to the left of the entrance at La Condesa. We might have something to do with that.
